Angling record: 10.3 kg; spearfishing record: 7.8 kg (Ref. 12484). Flesh considered good when fresh (Ref. 12484). The fishing restriction of having a closed season from September 1 through November and a size limit of 27.7 cm FL (Ref. 11441) has been changed to 1 October to 30 November with size limit of 30 cm (vernonvv@webmail.co.za 06/07, http://www.kznfishing.co.za on New Recreational Fishing Regulation).
